Newwork Magazine:

A very complex and abstract form of layout. At first, the layout seems quite random, however when guides are added, a clear (yet complicated) layout is shown. The pages often appear sparse, but information can be found over the entirety of each spread.
No Zine:

No Zine follow a less complicated layout structure. However, I'm very keen on the use of stock to create identity, as well as their use of type in headers. The zine's use a limited colour pallette, but used successfully to create bold, dynamic and unique pages.
Saul Bass:
This American graphic designer produces work that "breaks" the grid more than the previous two examples. It's not appealing to me, but I still appreciate its unique quality. I can see layout being an issue when dealing with illustration, unless the composition of the illustration is thought out before the magazine is produced.
